You’ve heard the old expression, “Like father, like son.”
Well, the same holds true for dogs–like owner, like dog.
Happy, friendly, well-adjusted, and obedient dogs are an extension of their owners and their owners’ commitment to them.
Socializing your dog is a key component of basic training.
Expose
your dog to other pets and people as much as possible and reward your pet
with lots of praise and positive reinforcement when he or she interacts and
behaves the way you wish.
Be a responsible pet owner.
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) offers these guidelines:
-- Never presume your dog will not bite.
-- Supervise your dog at all times and never let your dog run loose.
-- Spay or neuter your dog. -- Ensure that your dog successfully
completes socialization/obedience training–this will teach your dog acceptable
behaviors and enable you to control your dog in any situation.
